وصف
Travertine is a sedimentary rock. It is formed from deposits of calcium carbonate from the water of a mineral spring. The mineral spring can be hot, warm or cold, however the rate of deposition is increased the higher the temperature of the water.
The finest and purest form of travertine is white, but is often seen as brown or yellow due to impurities. It varies from 3-4 on the Moh's Hardenss scale, and has a density of 2.71 g/cm³. This is only the standard calculation and may vary in hardness, density and porosity. Generally travertine is a low density stone that is very easy to work with, however some travertine stones are harder than others.
It is commonly used in sinks, bathtubs, urns and artwork. Due to its low density, travertine constructions are light weight and easier than other stones to handle.
